NBA Betting: December 2015 Update

NBA Betting Tips: NBA Betting UpdateWhile the Thanksgiving holiday belongs to the NFL, Christmas belongs to the NBA and they annually give us the present of a string of high-profile matchups. This year is no different with five games played between noon to midnight ET, anchored by the massive NBA Finals rematch of first place Cleveland against first place Golden State.

This is the matchup many have been waiting for, and it couldn’t have come at a better time as the Cavs backcourt is finally getting healthy. Cleveland just got back Iman Shumpert to shore up the perimeter defense and they saw star guard Kyrie Irving play his first game of the season on Sunday against Philadelphia.

Cavs are heating up with five consecutive victories and four straight ATS covers heading into Wednesday night’s game vs. New York – the longest ATS winning streak this season.

NFL Betting – Beware of the Dogs

NFL Betting – Beware of the DogsWhen the Buffalo Bills upset the New York Jets on Thursday night – winning 22-17 as a 2.5-point road underdog, it triggered a crazy weekend of NFL action which saw a number of underdogs win outright.

Overall, underdogs went 12-2 against the pointspread, and an unbelievable 11-3 straight up. Backing all underdogs over the entire weekend against the pointspread would have resulted in a net profit of 7.7 units, while backing all underdogs over the entire weekend on the moneyline would have yielded an incredible 19.95 units of profit!

There were two incredible upsets this weekend, with both Green Bay and Cincinnati losing outright at home as double-digit favorites. The Packers lost their third game in a row as Detroit won in Lambeau Field for the first time since 1991.

NHL Hockey Betting: 2015-16 Season Underway

NHL Hockey Betting: 2015-16 Season UnderwayThe NHL Season is officially underway after four games were played last Wednesday. That opening four-game Wednesday slate saw home teams go 0-4 while favorites went 1-3, but since that time the chalk has dominated.

We compiled our stats from Wednesday through Sunday, and while hockey is notorious for home ice advantage not accounting for much, we were surprised to see home teams had a losing overall record through the first week of the season.

Out of 31 games played in total Wednesday through Sunday, home teams went a combined 14-17 straight up. Favorites did very well for NHL bettors, as they finished the week with a winning 22-9 record, including a 21-6 mark after opening day.

College Football Betting – Week 11 Marquee Matchups

College Football Betting – Week 11 Marquee MatchupsLast weekend saw a number of upsets, with three teams ranked in the Top Ten all losing outright. #2 LSU, #7 Michigan State, and #8 TCU all lost outright to shake up the top of the CFP Rankings. In case you missed it, we detailed how the CFP Rankings affect the pointspread earlier this week. Here, we’ll review the top games for this weekend in College Football.

Clemson remains number one this week after surviving late against Florida State last Saturday.

The Tigers were tied with the Seminoles in the fourth quarter but found a way to come out on top – even if they didn’t cover a big 12.5-point number. This week Clemson has a much easier task on the field against Syracuse, but are tasked by this sportsbook and even a few korean sportsbook to cover a huge 28-point number.

College Football Betting – Week 6 Marquee Matchups

College Football Betting – Week 6 Marquee MatchupsThere are only two matchups this weekend featuring two teams ranked in the Top 25 – one in the Big Ten and the other out West in the Pac 12. Last weekend saw a number of key big upsets with four Top Ten teams all losing outright. Those results have shook up the rankings, as well as the public perception of many high profile teams.

The first such matchup by the online sportsbook has unbeaten Northwestern taking on 4-1 Michigan at the Big House. The Wildcats have climbed to #13 in the rankings, and Big Ten powers Ohio State and Michigan State not on their schedule this year, this sets up as one of the biggest games of the season for Northwestern.

Wildcats crushed Minnesota 27-0 last week as a small 3-point home favorite. Most preferred sportsbooks still don’t give NW credit, however, as Michigan is a huge 8-point home favorite. That line would suggest Michigan would be favored even if this game took place at Northwestern. The Wolverines also had a great game last week, beating Maryland 28-0 for their second straight shutout.
