Daily Fantasy Sports Scrutinized by CongressOn Wednesday, the U.S. Congress decided to study the legalities and the future of daily fantasy sports after months of individual legislative battles by several states.  This year, ten state attorney generals have ruled that daily fantasy sports that include fantasy football, fantasy baseball and such are in violation of state gambling laws.

In addition twelve other states like Missouri are actively considering regulatory legislation for fantasy football.  Yesterday’s meeting of the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade became the first discussion regarding daily fantasy sports at a federal level.

Fantasy sports Games is a multibillion dollar business that is often advertised during the football, basketball and baseball season with DraftKings and FanDuel being the two largest Fantasy Sports companies leading the pact.  Oddly enough, their presence was not at the meeting.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by James Chu, the CEO of CRSportsBet.ag who has been reviewing the possible acquisition of FastWager.com for the past six months.

 FastWager.com was originally owned by a price-per-head operation that wanted to try its hand at a post-up operation after having such a large success with its current business model.  Even though FastWager.com was a success, their management wanted to concentrate on their core business and decided to sell it.

Johnny Manziel Gets Charged with Assault

Johnny Manziel Gets Charged with AssaultWhen things just couldn’t get any worst for out of work, former Brown Quarterback Johnny Manziel, he get indicted with assaulting his former girlfriend, Colleen Crowley.

 Straight out of a TV soap opra, Manziel was formally indicted today by a Dallas County grand jury for a single misdemeanor domestic violence charge.  The charge came from when an incident that took place with his former girlfriend back in January and can carry a maximum one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

According to Jim Darnell, Manziel’s lead attorney, Manziel will probably plead not guilty and believes that he will be acquitted of all charges.  According to the District Attorney’s Office, Crowley said that Manziel threatened to kill her and himself after repeatedly striking her after they had left a bar in Dallas on January 30th, 2016.

March Madness Final Four: How Will Each Team FareThe 2016 March Madness tournament is down to four teams that will be going head-to-head this weekend to see who will make it to the finals!  The stage is set in Houston and even though the public favors the Tar Heels to win it all, the bookies and the fans are not so sure as to who will be the ultimate champion.

Missouri Fantasy Sports Bill Heads for the Senate

Missouri Fantasy Sports Bill Heads for the SenateFantasy Sports has gained in popularity in the last decade and in fact has paid out over $3 billion in fantasy sports winning in the last year and over $250 million in entry fees.  Missouri residents; however, are currently not allowed to play contests for prizes and fans of fantasy sports in Missouri are eagerly awaiting on whether or not the bill allowing them to legally take part in fantasy sports will be accepted.

The state House has just passed a bill that would regulate the fantasy sports industry and would require fantasy sports websites operating in Missouri to pan an annual $5,000 fee as well limit the laying for those under 18 years of age and not allow employees of fantasy sports sites to play with insider knowledge. 

This bill is known as HB 1941 and is currently on its way to the Senate for a vote.

March Madness Pool at the Office – Winners and LosersIt’s time of the year again when over 60 million of Americans will be filling out a March Madness Bracket during their work hours as part of an office tournament pool.  This is a concern for some businesses believe that it is a waste of company time and resources. 

In fact, 86% of workers will end up filling out a tournament bracket and 56% of these workers intend on spending at least one hour taking care of their bracket which according to Wallethub.com, a financial tools and informational website, companies in the U.S. will $1.9 billion in unproductive workers during March Madness this year. 

In most cases, companies turn a blind eye to these festivities as it is considered good for moral and bring excitement to the office.  However, not every company will lose productivity during the NCAA Basketball tournament.  Of course, these are mostly companies in Houston, the host city of the Final Four where they expect to make $300 million from over 70,000 fans that will be visiting during the event.
