How to Bet Teasers

How to Bet TeasersSingle bets are the most common wagers on a sports betting menu. However, they don't give you the best chance to win big.

Parlays and teasers are riskier than single bets, but you can win more for a smaller risk.

Many people bet straight parlays over teasers. The reasons for this vary from person to person, but teasers are a great way to raise your winning percentage.

What's a Teaser Bet?

A teaser bet is a parlay where you're putting the odds directly in your favor. Teasers hit much more than parlays for this reason.

A teaser is when you select two or more events to occur. You then adjust the lines or totals by a certain number of points.

You can adjust the spread or total in any way that you feel is best for your bet.

The most common teaser bets are adjusted between four and six points. However, many sportsbooks will let you take the teaser up to as high as 10 points.

A 10-point teaser will yield a smaller payout than a six-point teaser with the same number of teams.

Teasers are typically used when betting on football and basketball games because of the nature of both sports' scoring. Here's an example of a six-point football teaser.

Game 1: Team A is a 9.5-point favorite over Team B. You like team A to cover, so you adjust their spread down to -3.5.

Now Team A only has to win by four to cover. Before, it would've had to win by 10.

Game 2: Team C is a 3.5-point favorite over Team D. You like Team D at +3.5, so you adjust their spread to +9.5.

Now they can lose by up to nine points, and the bet will still hit. Before, they had to be within three points for the bet to be successful.

This is an example of a teaser where you bet a favorite and an underdog.

How to Place a Teaser Bet on an Online Sportsbook

It's very simple to place a teaser on all online sportsbooks. To place a teaser online, all you have to do is go to the betting menu slate.

You will then select multiple lines or totals to put into your betting slip. In the betting slip menu, you will have the option to tease the bet.

You will have the option to adjust the line or total by a certain number of points. You will then see the payout for the risk that you're willing to bet.

Teaser Tips

Even though teasers have a higher winning percentage, you still need to do your betting research. You should bet teasers with lines that you would take without additional support. This takes your winning probability up even higher for a teaser bet.

For a teaser bet, you want to choose the lowest number of points possible. You should look for a number that fits your spread or total choices appropriately. Don't choose a 10-point teaser unless you feel that you need these additional points.

If you consider this when looking at contests to bet, you'll see plenty of winning teaser bet slips.
